 "동양인이 부른 노래로는 세계 음반 사상 최고의 판매량 기록"

 

전 세계적으로 1200만장이 팔린 이 앨범은 아직까지도
동양인이 부른 앨범 중 가장 많이 팔린 앨범으로 기록되어 있다.

 

올림픽 기간을 전후하여 방송매체를 통해 자주 들었던
손에 손잡고.. 지금도 들으면 웬지 가슴이 뭉클해지는 이 곡... 

 

 손에 손잡고는 폴리그램사에서 보컬그룹 코리아나의 노래로
1988년 6월 21일 서울 프레스 센터에서 내. 외신 기자 100여명을 초청하여

발표한 후 7월부터는 100여국이 넘는 각국 언론과 방송매체를 통한 홍보와

병행하여 음반, 카세트 등을 통해 올림픽 공식 주제가로서 보급을 시작하였다.


그 후 '손에 손잡고'는 스웨덴, 독일연방공화국, 에스파냐, 스위스,
오스트리아, 일본, 홍콩 등 17개국에서 가요차트 1위를 차지하였고,

30여개국에서 10위권 내에 드는 등 세계인의 인기를 끌어

서울올림픽 홍보에 크게 기여하였다고 한다.

 

  
지금까지도 올림픽 주제가 역사상 가장 많은 인기를 얻고 있으며

가장 세련되고 멋진 노래로 손꼽는다. 이 노래는 당시 유럽 챠트에

6주간 1위를 해내는 기염을 토했고 올림픽 기간중 미국의 라디오 방송

리퀘스트 1위를 달리는 등 대단한 진기록과 명성을 날렸었다.

 

덕분에 88 서울올림픽은 유럽등지에 한국을 알리는 커다란 성과를 거두었고
